Morning everyone and a great big hello from Destin and the Emerald Coast where we’re just 3 weeks away from Destin’s Festival of the Arts” annual event out at Henderson Beach State Park on October 27-28 !
Today’s weather is looking like partly sunny skies for the Seafood Festival later this afternoon and evening with highs in the lower 80′s…We will have about an 30% chance of showers later today with winds from 5-10 mph..
With over 100 juried, fine artists participating, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s Destin Festival of the Arts will be getting underway the last weekend of the month again this month out at Henderson Beach with free shuttle service available from the Emerald Coast Center which is just west of the Destin Wal-Mart parking lot.
This year’s Festival will include works from 18 different art mediums by the 100 top artists who will travel from all over the country to show and compete for over $9000 in prize money. The Festival will also include plenty of activities for the younger ones, live music by well-known local musicians, and lots and lots of real quality viewing of some really outstanding work. The admission for this year’s event is only $3 for adults and as always children under 12 are admitted free.
For those not familiar with the Festival, the Destin Festival of the Arts annual show is the premier Destin event each year for really outstanding varied art work along the coast and the outstanding artists who travel to the area each year for the event are regarded as some of the top exhibitors from around the country. The Festival’s annual theme posters done by one of the participating artists have become much sought out collectibles over the years and always make a great addition to anyone’s personal collection.
For more information on the Festival we recommend visiting their excellent site and spending some time…just visit Destin Festival of the Arts !
Okay folks need to get busy and get going. It’s going to be some kind of busy weekend around here with the Seafood Festival and the Destin Rodeo all going on throughout the weekend. Plus some really great college football games on tap for tomorrow. I’ve about decided the best way to handle it all is to grab a ride with Jimmy on the WaterTaxi down to the BoardWalk tomorrow, then pickup a plate of maybe some nice jumbo steamed shrimp over rice and then grab the WaterTaxi back home to watch the games. Then tomorrow night during the halftime I could quickly do the grab and pickup a nice halftime snanck and scoot back with Jimmy. Sounds like a plan right?
Have a great weekend and enjoy family, church time, R & R, cooking out a little and just having some fun. We’ll be back Monday looking for you. Have a super weekend everyone… Catch ya later!
